A special night for a special lady
With the slump in darts all across the country, it would take something really special to get all the players out on a Saturday night. It was special it – was Julie Bates’ big birthday.
It was a surprise party at Sixshooters for the #1 lady of darts. No one could have imagined how many showed up to honor Julie. It was payback time for the lady who takes care of all the players.
Julie is always doing something for someone, whether it is making a cake, beef jerky, cookies, brownies… she always makes people feel special. And it was great to have everyone come out to show they appreciate all she does.
Kurt Gonzalez was kind enough to bring the DJ equipment and keep everything fun. Brad Halley and Jeff Loisel put together slide shows with some great pictures and Scooter ran a mixed tournament with 38 players.
It was a fitting ending, as Chicago Bob and Julie won the tournament. It was not your ordinary night of darts – we did a little dancing, a little singing and a whole lot of eating and drinking.
Beth Kuehl and Brenda Van T. did most of the planning, a lot of the paying, and made sure everything was looking good. Beth, Brenda and Pam Nordhus did all the decorating of the room. They are truly special friends.
I would like to thank all who turned out and showed that darts really is a family thing.
