~ In Memoriam ~
Laren Stayton
May 4, 2024 April 27, 2024
Tons of family and friends came out to support Laren's wife Stephanie, in loving memory of Laren who passed away quite suddenly in February. Throughout the day there were tons of prizes raffled, a live auction for larger prizes, and a dart tournament, which had 23 teams.
It was an all day affair with a great buffet, and in the end, approximately $2,600 was raised for his family. We know there are no words that can express the loss that Stephanie is experiencing, but it was wonderful to know that the dart community was there to show their support.
For those of you who did not know him, Laren married into and accepted a most unique family 22 years ago. At first, Laren appeared to be a solitary man, but little did we know, he was sizing us up, deciphering how he would find his place among this wild and fun-loving bunch.
Everyone who knew him has a favorite Laren story. It didn't matter if it was playing cards at home, darts at Toso's or My Ole Mans, volleyball on the senior team, or golf on any course that was available; there was nobody more fun to beat or worse yet, to lose to, than Laren.
He loved his family more than anything. Laren was so proud of his wife Stephanie, and the loving relationship they had together; but with all the love he had for Stephanie, there was still enough room for the other women in his life... their spoiled little girl, Lexie (the family dog).
Laren, if given an opportunity, would also freely boast about all the accomplishments of his nieces and nephews. Although they were not his own children, he would glow when he spoke about them.
So, what have we learned from this incredible man?
1. Never lay up, go for the green
2. Don't be afraid to lend a hand
3. Live life to the max everyday
4. It's never too late to ask Jesus into your life
In a time that seems so short, Laren touched many lives. We are all thankful for the lessons learned and the memories he placed in our hearts.
