A Woman's Perspective

From a princess' point of view

Oh my God, imagine or remember back to when a dart tournament was fun, friendly and inexpensive, with no drama? When everyone was welcome, people of all skill levels were encouraged to play, and if you were not playing, it was fun to watch? Where all the cheering was positive, no one booed or complained?

I recently experienced such a tournament. This tournament has restored my faith in the game and has encouraged me to want to play. I am inclined to invite everyone to the next one, in hopes that it might have the same influence on y'all.

When I was introduced to someone, it was all hugs and welcomes. They all wanted to know if I was playing. When I said no, they encouraged me to play and reminded me I was there to have a good time.

At one point, my darts just would not stick and a very kind man came over and asked if he could help. He fixed my darts. He was nice and cordial, never making fun of my lack of knowledge or inability to throw.

Please do not for a second think that any of this was because these were not good players or just because I am female. These people (men and women) are very good players and everyone treated everyone very kindly. Sorry guys, but very few of you (if any) would stand a chance against some of them. And even as some got absolutely whooped, a negative word was never spoken aloud – only encouragement and good tries.

So where was this amazing tournament, this grand time? We have one kind of like it here in Phoenix , however just like our regular tournaments, we have managed to sabotage it! I will tell, but only if y'all promise if you go to one, you will not take along these malicious attitudes we have developed here in Phoenix .

So where already… The Tucson Steel Tip Shoot! Thank you to everyone who made my experience so enjoyable. I truly do have a restored faith in the game I use to enjoy so much.
