Ladies join Master's League

By Kelli Wise

For the past ten weeks, I have had the pleasure of playing in the ‘new’ Ladies Draft league.
Now, I say “new” because there have been a few ladies leagues in the past which have not been able to stand the test of time. However, the ladies that have come together are committed to making this league successful and staying around for years to come.
This league’s initial goal was to create a Ladies’ Master league, playing all games similar, if not exactly like the Men’s league. However, as this was the first season and a lot of the women were new to the format, they slightly modified it to work out the kinks.
The format is four to a team with seven games each of 501 – freeze only– and Cricket, followed by a team game of 901 – freeze and double out.
There are eight teams playing this season; unfortunately, I haven’t taken pictures of all the teams yet, but I will correct that in the next edition.)
Next season is guaranteed to be great. As the ladies continue to work towards the ultimate goal of making this league a Master’s League, there will be changes to the format to make it more challenging and competitive. In addition, they will be adding additional playing locations to make it more convenient for the players. So, if you would like to play in the next season, please contact one of the ladies and they will get you on the list.
Every Tuesday, after they finish playing, a lot of the ladies head up the road to Stinger’s to participate in a little karaoke. If you are ever out on a Tuesday night, stop by because our ladies can sing! This league has been a lot of fun, despite the misgivings of some and I look forward to next season.
