JOE'S

$1,000
shoot at Joe's
By Kelli Wise
Every time that I go to Joe’s, I have a great time. So, when Joe
added a guaranteed $1,000 payout, I knew I was in for a fun-filled afternoon/evening.
The tournament started off with many folks cheering on the Denver Broncos
and New York Giants. As I don’t want to cause any flashbacks and
involuntary outburst of anger from the Bronco fans, I will quickly move
on to the specifics of the tourney.
There were 56 players, which resulted in a total payout of $1,600. In
addition to providing food for the players, Joe held a Second Chance tourney
with 24 players, for players like myself, that were having such a great
time that we didn’t want to go home. As always, Tobin was on hand
to keep everything running smoothly.
The final matches were like being in Vegas watching teams battle for The
Pit. The final four matches went all three games and the battle for first
was exceptional. As the teams were playing for second through fourth,
Mike Kurley and Rick Pujdak were waiting at the top of the winners, watching
the matches and the Astros/White Sox game.
Pete Linaris and Scott Hovdal won fourth place after a close match against
David Fatum and Pete Maros. Van ‘Scooter’ Williams and Steve
Swaine found a way to beat David and Pete to battle Kurley and Pujdak
for first place. Scooter and Steve made every quarter count and pushed
Kurley and Pujdak to the max.
Every game came down to a clutch shot with the crowd cheering on, feeling
the victory and pain with every shot. The final shots were definitely
Pit-worthy and Scooter and Steve took them to the second match. But in
the end, it was Kurley and Pudjak who took home the first place prize.
