Master
League wraps season
with tournament
An unusual evening
deserves a peculiar story
By Mike Bates
It was the end of the week, but a great time was near. It was the Master’s
Banquet Tourney, good time for a beer.
The tub was full of ice, clear to the top, some drank mixed drinks and
others drank pop.
The girls were all working as hard as could be; it was wall-to-wall players,
as far as you could see.
Awards were given out, it was now time to play; who would win the money
at the end of the day?
The teams were drawn and lots seemed good, with all the awesome players,
no one knew where they stood.
It was Scooter and McCartney, Brad Halley and Joel, I drew Kix Acala and
we got in a hole.
Lots of good teams, Dean drew Small “E”. It was going great,
but time for a pee.
Forty-eight players and lots of cash to split. Who would be in the finals,
or make it to the pit?
Teams won and teams lost, the field would shrink. I was playing better
the more I would drink.
Our run finally ended, but didn’t spoil the fun. Gosh, I think we
could have won if Kix hit that ton.
The three mentioned earlier would battle for the top; Scooter and Tom
would be the first to drop.
It was down to the end with “E” starting to lunge. Could he
keep it together a little longer or totally take the plunge?
Joel and Norman gave it good fight, but when it was over it was Dean and
Eric’s night. A lofty little payout, six hundred they would share.
Don’t feel bad for second place, they got four hundred for the pair.
Over $1,700 total for the tournament alone, I didn’t here complaining,
not a single moan. Tobin ran the tourney and the staff is always great.
But the players make it happen, on any given date.
So thanks to all who played and those who back us too. If we didn’t
have the league, half would be in the zoo.
I know the article is corny; it’s different from the rest. But,
if I can’t have fun writing, I rather take a test.
So sign-up for the Master’s League, it’s season 36. We have
lots of great players, even Kix and Hicks.
Note: The next Master’s Draft is Sept. 19th at Sixshooters, and
then Sept. 21st at Big Daddy’s for the B Division. Contact Mike
Bates to get your name on the list. Check the Troy Vending website for
