THE
DOGHOUSE; PHOENIX, AZ
A
night spent in the doghouse
Large throng of players
converge on unsuspecting bar
By Kelli Wise
I started out by day at the Mesa Famous Sam’s $1,000 shoot. Unfortunately,
my time in the tournament didn’t last very long, so I ended up with
a lot of time on my hands.
Nicely enough, at Famous Sam’s there were flyers for a tournament
at The Doghouse, a couple of miles away, so I decided that since I was
on this side town (which is really, really, far from my house) that I
would check it out.
Upon arriving, I found everyone from Famous Sam’s had the same idea.
Not sure if it was for me (since I am never in Mesa) or the guaranteed
payout. I say a little of both.
In any event, the tournament director, Keith, did an excellent job and
kept everything running smoothly with 36 players, including waiting for
the Famous Sam’s tournament to finish so people could play. Although
she was all alone with no help from any wait staff, Mona did a great job
keeping everyone’s glasses filled.
Continuing his winning streak, Kevin Rowe won third place with the help
of partner, Tee Arreola. Second went to Lucky and new player, Eric. First
place belonged to Jimmy and Bob.
After Lucky and Jimmy completed the championship match they decided to
do a little dance for the ladies in the house. Now, that was entertaining!
But, it wasn’t just their escapades that made the evening, because
although she didn’t win the tournament, Brandy did find a man!
